After receiving my art back in the mail about a month ago, I finally got my scores for AP Art yesterday! Woo, the judges gave me a 5 (the highest score)!

So... yep... don't really have any other news except that I now have a FaceBook page....

And I saw Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince opening night Wednesday! The entire theater was sold out (all 450 seats), so we got there an hour and a half early, and it was a good thing we did. Only about 20 people were in line ahead of us, and the line went all the way from the front of the theater to the back of the theater, wrapped around itself to go back to the front again, and then proceeded to wrap around itself a third time back towards the back.

I'll admit that I was disappointed once again in how they transferred events of the book into the movie (I won't say why to spare anyone reading this who hasn't seen it any spoilers), but the visual effects were at least amazing. It was fun going in my Death Eater costume, too; I think my brother and I were the only ones at the theater in costume that night. I'll post pictures of my costume as soon as it stops raining so I can get good outside pictures... the highlight of the night was terrifying small children. Ah, an entire weekend and two nights of frantic sewing/looking for fabric/chasing down my stupid cat to get my thread and buttons back and making him spit out my sewing pins well spent.

Well, SAIL had its graduation ceremony Thursday and I have to go to orientation at FSU starting tomorrow night, so I guess I'm officially a college student now. I've actually been thinking about going into Marine Biology (my current major is Biology, though marine bio's only a "track" in that major), since I suddenly find marine mammals very interesting since going behind the scenes at Sea World and swimming with dolphins at Discovery Cove on the Animal Adventure intensive at my school. Hm, we'll have to see how this goes...

Anyways, I finally got back on DA and posted the rest of my art from AP Art Portfolio. I'll just have to wait and see how the judges liked my work, now, and eventually get my pieces back in the mail... *sigh* I can't wait until July!

But on the upswing, I got a summer job at the library doing the same stuff I did while volunteering.

I've ordered fabric swatches from [link] to make sure that I found the right texture and color of fabric for Lord Kass (as well as my brother's Jeran fursuit), so we'll see if I finally managed to find somewhere with Darigan-purple fur and Jeran-blue fur. :hope: the head's coming along well too; I finished most of the foam, but ran out, so I guess I have to stop by JoAnn's and get more foam and by Michael's to get plastic ornament globes for the "follow-me" eyes before I can continue. blah. I'll post a pic when the head's completely foamed and the eyes are in progress.

I recently got money from my grandparents for my birthday, so I finally had the funds to buy a mouse! His name is Cornelius Fudge, for reasons yet unknown except that the name really suits him. He's a beautiful cinnamon-beige with a long, silky tail. I also have to mention that he's a NINJA MOUSE. He climbs everything, and when I saw him at Petsmart he was laying flat out across his water bottle about ten inches above the enclosure floor, sleeping soundly. When he woke up, he proceeded to climb *straight down* the corrugated wall head-first.

Oberon (a maine coon/tabby mix cat) is very happy; ever since Merry and Pippin (two gerbils) died of old age, he hasn't had any scurrying rodent to watch, and with the new addition of Cornelius he has his TV back. I'll take some photos of Cornelius and post them soon; I want to let him get acclimated to the new habitat first before I startle him with camera flashes. And he's already paranoid-- as soon as I open the top of the tank and my hand goes in, he dives as fast as he can into his little two-story wooden house and barricades the doors with bedding. I feel rejected, but maybe he'll come around once he gets used to everything and my scent.

So, Lord Kass fursuit progress: I've started the base construction with plastic mesh for the head and finished the final designs on paper, so it's coming along well. I've also found a couple of good sites online that sell purple faux fur and feathers of the right length, so now it's just up to saving enough money to buy them through CafePress sales.

And as for college... I've decided to go to FSU instead of UCF becaues of FSU's excellent biology and geology programs and their new biology building. There's also the fact that it's right here where I live, so no worries about dorms or meal plans. I figure I'll go to FSU for a dual-major in biology and geology, then move on to graduate school at UoF in Gainesville for a Master's and Doctorate in paleontology. I've been reading up on fossil mammals (especially rodents) lately, and they're fascinating... who would have thought that I'd find prehistoric mice more interesting than dinosaurs?
